MLA to Host Session with OpEd Project Founder at the 2018 Convention
The MLA invites attendees of this year’s convention to join us in New York City for an interactive workshop led by Katie Orenstein, founder of the OpEd Project, to be held on Thursday, 4 January 2018. This two-hour session, designed to build the foundation necessary for humanities students and faculty members to write persuasively for a broad audience, will address core questions of what we know, why it matters, and how and why we should use it for maximum impact. How can language and literature professionals present challenging ideas and new ways of thinking to an engaged public outside the conventional classroom setting? What is powerful about humanities work, and how does it bear on some of today’s most pressing issues?
Space is limited, so you are invited to apply on the MLA Web site. Please note that participants must be registered for the convention to attend the workshop.
